“You had one fucking job to do!” Sean snapped at the beautiful woman sitting in the plush chair with a drink in her hand and a relaxed look on her face. “All you had to do was convince him to take me back, and you fucked that up like you did everything else. What the hell do we do now?”
“Sean, darling, calm down. Besides now you have beaten him to a bloody mess he won’t take you back now, no matter what I say.” She got up from the chair she was sitting in and walked over to him. “We will think of something. Ethan is easily swayed by pretty words coming from good-looking men.”
Sean shook his head. He certainly could not deny how beautiful Simone Beaumont was, but behind her beauty was dangerous mind. Simone didn't look a day over fifty, her silver blond curls cascading over shoulders, resting on her supple breast. Her gray eyes were dangerously shining, and he knew she was thinking of something devious.
“You’re worried over nothing.” She leaned her body close to his and placed a gentle kiss on his cheek. “Don't go getting scared on me now, my lovely,” she whispered in his ear. “Ethan just needs time to realize his mistakes. I should be angry at you for what you did, after all, I am his mother.” She raised a perfectly arched eyebrow and lifted his hands to her lips, kissing his knuckles. “But I don’t have the heart to be angry.” Simone raised a hand and cupped the side of Sean’s cheek, “Stop worrying, my darling, everything will work out in time.”He snatched his hand away from her, taking a step back Simone’s hand slid from his face.
“Time, that's what you said after we killed his father,” Sean seethed.“Correction, my darling you killed James, not me.”Sean was starting to realize he had made a deal with the devil. Three years ago when he met Simone, was a skilled manipulator. All he knew was that she had money, and he needed it. He saw her as a meal ticket, and they began sleeping together. Sean was never one to care about gender, all that mattered was how the other person made him feel in bed.Sean scowled and backed away from her. Her touch always played havoc on his mind and libido and right now he needed to think. Their plan was taking too long. He needed her money, or he would never get his father's territory back from the Escobar organization.
When he had been fifteen years old, Sean had lost everything. His father had been gunned down and murdered right in front of him. Marco Moretti had run a large portion of Chicago criminal underground. When Marco had talked, people listened. He had enjoyed watching his father used his power to gain whatever he wanted. At fifteen, Marco was grooming Sean to take over from him when he turned twenty-one when all that went to shit. Thanks to Vinnie Sabatino, who disappeared without leaving a trace. For years Sean has searched for any clues where or who Vinnie Sabatino was. He hated the bastard for ruining his life. Sean remembered that his father was a good husband to his mother, and a great father to him and his little sister. So what if he was an asshole to everyone else, stole and killed with no regard? He was still my father. After the death of his father, another had moved into his place, dismantling the territory leaving him, his mother and sister in poverty. Everyone one thought Marco had stashed money away to take care of his family if something should happen to him. After all, he was a smart businessman. However, the feds froze his assets, leaving his family with nothing. Disgraced to be cut away from their social standing, Sean’s mother changed their names from Moretti to Pearson and moved them out of Chicago, to somewhere where no one knew them. For years, they bounced around from state to state, never staying in one place, because of his mother’s paranoia. When Sean was old enough, he had moved back to Chicago, to his old stomping grounds. Everything had changed. Anyone left over from his father’s old crew had been taken over by two brothers, Hector and Ernesto Escobar, whose main base was in Mexico. But the brothers made it a point to let everyone know they ran things whether they were there physically or not. It was well known Ernesto was the main boss while his brother, Hector, was the middle man.  Sean had heard how ruthless the brothers could be. And could witness their cruelty in person at the expense of a disgruntled lieutenant, who now ate through a feeding tube, and needed a colostomy bag. Sean knew what he wanted in life, it was the same thing his father would have wanted, to have the Moretti name bring fear to all that opposed them.Sean had hopes of getting close to the Escobar brothers. Foolishly he thought using his previous last name would help, but he had been laughed at. To remain a part of that world, he worked for the Escobar brother’s organization, even though he’s still a low man on the totem pole, running errands under the last name Moretti. Having the Moretti name become feared again would take longer than he would like and that was where the Simone Beaumont came in.He had met her one night at a bar. After he had fucked her a few times, she started complaining about her bastard of a husband who refused to give her a divorce. He knew she was rich and told her that if her husband wouldn't give her what she wanted, maybe she should kill him instead. In the beginning, Sean had suggested it as a joke, but she took him seriously. They made it look like a suicide. Simone paid the detectives and the medical examiner to fake the reports. The plot and scheme were certainly elaborate and methodically thought out. He shook his head, thinking how crazy he had been for going along with it. He also couldn't believe it worked. Sean had a feeling that Ethan suspected Simone had something to do with James Beaumont’s death but had not voiced his suspicions. Simone was not a saint but played the game of being a wonderful wife to her husband and a caring mother to Ethan. Since becoming acquainted with Simone, he’d witnessed oil dripping like honey from her lips when she spoke; it was how she got him to do what she wanted.Simone thought James Beaumont would leave her everything, but he had left it all to Ethan. Simone was just as greedy as Sean, she was smart but required the finer things in life, and their funds were dwindling down, he noticed it six months ago.  Simone loved to spend and live lavishly. That was when the next plan came into effect. He was supposed to get close to Ethan, get him to fall in love and marry him. Then Sean would get a power of attorney before he planned on killing him. It was supposed to be a simple thing. Ethan seemed trusting enough to believe Sean would be in love with him.It had worked until he was caught cheating. He expected Ethan to forgive him a long time ago. Cheating was not the worst thing he’d done in the relationship. Well, that Ethan had known about.  Sean will admit he has a small fraction of affection for the other man but not enough to spend the rest of his life tied down to him. The money was all he wanted out of both Ethan and Simone. Once Sean got what he needed, they planned to split the Beaumont fortune fifty-fifty and go their separate ways.  However, he did not understand why Simone was doing this.Sean looked back at Simone, “Why are you doing this, anyway? You're rich. And he's your son. Don’t you love him?”
“You wouldn’t understand if I told you. And that little fool is not my son!”That last statement confused him. He knew Simone hated her late husband, James; it was why she swayed Sean with the guile of money to kill him.“He knew that I didn't want to have children,” she explained. “I made sure of it. Our marriage was an agreement between our fathers with a few stipulations. Having a child was not part of that. The first and only time I got pregnant, I aborted it purposely. I think he knew what I did.”Sean opened his mouth to speak but closed it when Simone continued.“We were only supposed to stay married for ten years, to help my father’s company. After the ten years, we could go our separate ways. But even after that, James refused to give me the divorce I wanted, that I begged him for.” A sad expression crossed her face. “Then he changed, there were times he would go away for some time and I would never know where he went. But one time he came back, and there was something different about him, I couldn’t put my finger on what happened. Maybe he really was depressed, but I didn’t care. I hated him, each time he touched me it sickened me. He was abusive, verbally and physically. I tried to run once or twice, and he found me; no matter where I went, he found me. He kept me a fucking prisoner in my home.”Simone looked down at the glass in her hand as if she was still living her experience all over again.“And one day he came home with that bastard child,” she continued. “That he doted on. When I asked him where the boy came from, he told me not to worry and that he was ours. The only time he treated me with kindness was when the boy was around.” She shook her head. “James had his secrets. Secrets he never even shared with Ethan and no matter how many times I tried finding more about Ethan’s parentage, I came up with nothing. I had a DNA test ran, but James got to the results before I did. After a while, I simply gave up.”Sean listened and watched her facial expressions go from the beautiful calm to hatred. “Have you said anything to Ethan about this?”She shook her head no. “Ethan idolized his father. Would it crush him to know James might not be his dad? Yes. But I want tangible evidence. I want that little bastard to hurt the same way I did. Because of him and his father, I wasted my life playing the good little wife and mother in public.”  Truthfully, Sean didn’t think Ethan was a bad person. He actually liked the guy. He was a great lover; it was also the only time he didn’t have to pretend when he was around the other guy. Ethan was a bit needy, but he could see why with a woman like Simone in his life.“So what do we do now,” he asked her. “We know he's seeing one of the Hamilton’s.”Simone screwed her face up and tsked. “Another nuisance. That whole family and their goody two shoes attitude.” She sat back down in the chair she vacated earlier.
“How badly did you beat him up?”Sean shrugged. “Enough to keep him in the hospital for a couple of days. Why?”“It thinks it’s time I became a supportive mother,” She reasoned.Sean didn’t know what Simone was planning, and frankly, he didn’t care. As long as he got what he wanted, in the end, was all that mattered. Sean had a feeling Ethan was the only one immune to Simone’s bullshit.
