It’s Christmas and the Pryde family and friends eagerly waits to see what Santa Claus left under their tree. From a Christmas party that goes partly how Jordan wanted it, to a Christmas morning surprise for Benjamin and Maddison, celebrating the holidays is always an adventure with the Prydes.
Jordan looked at himself in the mirror and checked to make sure everything was okay, his eyes taking in the small baby bump that he was constantly touching. Anyone looking at him would think he’d gained weight even though he was three months along. He had six more months to go. For nyxians, their pregnancies last twelve months, but it seemed his little one was growing at an alarming rate. According to the doctor, it could be attributed to Jordan being half lykosian and Duncan was an alpha lykosian.
Gods, I don’t think I could carry a child for thirteen months.
“Are you sure you want to do this?”
He looked over his shoulder and met his mate’s eyes. “Yes, I don’t see what’s the big deal it’s just shopping.”
“At least take Ryo and Sen with you.”
Ryo and Sen were Jordan’s twin nyxian bodyguards. Along with finding out that he could get pregnant a few months earlier, he’d also found out that he wasn’t human either. He’d discovered that his mother, Ayumi, was not his birth mother but his aunt who’d promised his mother before she died to take care and raise him as her own. Laxus, the man he’d called Dad all his life was his adopted father and was his mother’s personal guard and fated mate. Jordan’s birth mother had killed herself not long after giving birth to him and his bastard of a grandfather, Bergstrand of the nyxian sect, murdered Jordan’s birth father because he was a lykosian. At present, Bergstrand was guilty of wreaking havoc on the sects with the help of hunters using laced silver drugs.
“No, I will not let my day be ruined by those two. The twins and I can take care of ourselves.”
Jordan leaned in and kissed Duncan on his lips stopping whatever he was about to say. “Stop worrying. Everything is going to be fine.”
Duncan wrapped his arms around Jordan's waist pulling them closer together. “You could stay home.” He wiggled his eyebrows and Jordan giggled.
Jordan backed away from his mate’s arms. “No, I promised the twins we could go shopping. Besides, they worked hard doing chores to earn the spending money. You don’t want to disappoint them, do you?”
“No,” Duncan sighed. “Fine, just be careful.”
“We will be.”
Jordan leaned in and kissed his mate once more. As he stepped away, he quickly stopped before opening the door, and turned to face his mate. Duncan was dressed in a three-piece suit like the one he wore the morning he’d hired him. Jordan had applied to work for Duncan as his personal assistant and ended up being his nanny for his five-year-old twin niece and nephew, Maddison and Benjamin.
“Hey,” he said getting Duncan’s attention. “I love you.”
Duncan took the few short steps to him, grabbing him by the back of the neck and smashing their lips together kissing the life out of him. When they separated from their kiss, Jordan’s vision was clouded with lust, and for a split second, he thought about staying home and taking their kiss further.
“I never get tired of hearing you say that.”
“Huh,” was all Jordan could say.
Duncan stepped back just has his vision cleared up, and he didn’t miss the smug smile on his mate’s lips.
“M—” Jordan started just as heard a knock on the door.
“Dad, are you ready?” Benjamin asked through the closed door.
“I think you better go.” Duncan started unbuttoning his shirt and Jordan bit his bottom lip hoping to get a peek at his chest before he left.
“You’re doing this on purpose. Getting me all riled up knowing I can’t stay. I don’t know how you did it but you…”
“I haven't done anything, baby,” Duncan said with a smile that made him weak in his knees.
“Why don’t I believe you?” Duncan didn’t get a chance to answer as the tapping became louder and insistent.
Duncan walked over to him and kissed him again. “Take the kids shopping, and when you get back, we’ll have some fun of our own.” He wiggled his eyebrows.
Duncan stepped back putting some space between them, and Jordan’s eyes automatically fell to his mate’s crotch. His erection was bursting at the seams of his pants.
Fuck, he’s so sexy. But all that sexiness will have to wait until later.
“Jordan, what should Ben and I get Papa for Christmas?” Maddison asked him from the backseat.
“I don’t know, sweet pea,” Jordan answered. He pulled into the nearest available parking spot. Putting the car in park, he turned to look at the twins. “How about we just walk around and if you guys see something that jumps out at you that you think he would like, we’ll get it for him?”
“Okay,” they chorused together.
Jordan smiled and got out of the car then opened the backdoor for the twins. Standing between them, he held onto both their hands and they started walking. This will be their first Christmas together, and Jordan was just as excited as the kids were. They’d decorated the tree along with the house, baked cookies and delivered them to the pack members. They were starting to feel like a family. His bond with the twins grew stronger every day as well as his love for them. Jordan stopped walking along with the twins when he felt as if someone was watching him. Maybe Duncan was right, and I should have let Ryo and Sen come with us. He looked around the parking lot and sighed when he saw Aoi standing on the other side of the parking lot staring at him.
“I thought I told Duncan I didn’t need a bodyguard,” Jordan yelled across to him, he also left the annoyance in his tone.
“I’m not here on the alpha’s behalf, my prince,” Aoi said to him once he was standing in front of him.
“Okay, that’s it. For the next month, I forbid you to call me prince. Hell, maybe for my entire life. I am your nephew, and I want to call you uncle for once.” Aoi was Laxus’ brother and had helped Jordan out of a sticky situation. The man might also be way older than him, and Duncan who was in his hundreds, but Aoi had no gray or wrinkles in sight. It gave him hope knowing that his kind aged well.
Aoi went to speak but stopped when Jordan narrowed his eyes at him. “Okay,” he relented, “but you’re wrong about one thing.”
“Yeah, and what’s that?”
“I wasn’t following you, and I didn’t even know you were here. I came to make a purchase.”
“Really?” He stared at his uncle for a second. Is he blushing? That can’t be. It was cold outside sure, but it was hard to get Aoi to show any kind of emotion what’s so ever. “Are you buying a gift for someone special?” he asked testing the water and almost chuckled when Aoi’s cheeks got as red as a ripe tomato. Then it hit Jordan. Did he find his mate? He knew that when Aoi defected from being one of Bergstrand’s royal guards to join his side he left everything behind and Jordan never heard him mention having a mate. Was he interested in someone from the pack?
That could only mean he found his mate. Jordan’s eyes widened just as Aoi looked back at him.
“You found your mate? Who is it?” he asked excitedly. “You found your mate.”
The older man's eyes widen. “How do you know that when I gave nothing away?
“I can tell,” Jordan answered.
“What if it was someone I just want to fu . . .” he paused before continuing remembering the twins was stand there watching them, “be friendly with.”
“Because no one man or woman buys a Christmas gift for someone they want to get ‘friendly’ with,” Jordan told him using air quotes. “So, come one tell me.”
Aoi went to say something but paused and shook his head from side to side as if contemplating telling Jordan, who was bouncing o the tips of his toes waiting for the older man to say something. “I’m not going to reveal their identity to you,” Aoi said bursting his bubble and started walking.
The twins followed and caught up to Aoi, got on either side of him and grabbed onto his hands. The adored their Uncle Aoi since he was teaching them fencing with play swords. Jordan and Duncan were a bit hesitant at first but realized in the world the lived in the twins needed to learn different ways to protect themselves. Benjamin and Maddison were also learning simple defensive skills from their Uncles Parker, Sebastian, and Charlie. Human’s might think they were too young to learn how to fight at five, but they weren’t human and lived in a world where something dangerous can happen anytime, anyplace, anywhere.
“Oh, come on,” Jordan yelled after his uncle and started walking to catch up with the trio. “Tell me.”
“Not until I’ve spoken to him first, Jordan.”
“So, it’s a guy?”
“Yes, and that’s all I’m telling you.”
“Huh,” Jordan said in thought. “Do you know what he likes?”
Aoi and the twins stopped walking. “I do not.”
“Then tell me who is it.”
“I said no.”
“But what if you need help picking out his gift?” he whined hoping that it would sway his uncle like it did Duncan.
Aoi stopped looked at him smiling. “That might work on your mate, but it won’t work on me.”
Jordan stared at him as a plan started to form in his mind. He was going to find out who his uncle had an interest in before the year was out. “Okay.” He turned with a smile on his face. He was going to drop it for now or let Aoi think he did.
“Come along my little ones,” he said holding out his hands for Benjamin and Maddison. “We have presents to buy.”
“I don’t know what you’re up to, but it’s not going to work,” Aoi called after him.
“I’m not going to do anything, dear uncle. I’m just going shopping with my little ones.”
The frustrating growl that he got back made him smile. Aoi might try to be careful around the person he thought was his mate, but it didn’t matter because Jordan would figure it out.
“Why did I let you talk me into this?” Duncan asked looking down at his mate.
“Because you’re just as intrigued as I am, and it’s good for the pack members to get to know their new allies.”
“Admit it, this is just an excuse for you to have a party. The nyixans and sanguines seem to get along fine, but my guys don’t seem too keen on mixing and mingling. Well except for the social butterflies in the pack.”
Jordan looked around and noticed that everyone was sticking to their own group. All but Sebastian, Charlie, and Parker who are the packs jokesters and known social butterflies. Kellen, Bronx’s mate, was standing in a corner by himself as always. The ex-Blackburn hunter seemed to want to stay separated from everyone. Bronx wasn’t making it any better because his best friend didn’t seem as if he knew how to relate to his mate.
He was starting to wonder if the entire evening was a bad idea. He wanted two things to happen, one to find out who Aoi was interested in and two, for his friends to let down their hair so to speak and have some fun. It was the holidays, and even with the events happening he just wanted everyone to let go for a bit. This isn’t going to do. Setting his drink down.
“I’m not sure why you’re so invested in this?”
“Because Aoi means a lot to me and I want to see him happy.”
“I know you’re happy that he’s finally showing interest in some one, but don’t get too involved, please. You don’t want to mess with what the fates have in store.”
“Yeah, yeah, stop worrying. I’m not going to do much.”
Jordan looked over at his uncle who was speaking with his parents and Duncan’s mother, Galicia. Aoi was often described as tall, dark, and handsome he had to agree.
The lykosian pack members had started to open up more to Jordan along with some of the nyxians that had defected from the nyxian realm and started living on the island. But it was only a handful.
Could it be someone in the pack or another nyxian? What about a sanguine?
“Okay everyone, it’s time to open presents,” he called out, getting everyone’s attention.
When he’d sent out the invitations, Jordan added a note that attendees needed to bring one gift, they were doing a secret Santa of sorts. Playing the game, Jordan knew he wasn’t going to find out in whom his uncle was interested, it was part of the fun for everyone to get to know each other. Besides, he had other tricks up his sleeves to find out about Aoi’s love interest.
Jordan sat on the floor beside the tree and Duncan joined him along with the twins. They’d asked if they could stay up a bit late tonight. After speaking with his mate, they decided the kids could stay up until after they opened up the presents. Knowing the kids would be in attendance, he’d gone a bit further and sent invitations to the kids’ friends, with the same instructions about bringing a gift. The crazy thing about it all, all the kids were from the pack and nyixans. There weren’t any from the sanguines, and Jordan needed to remember to ask Bronx why the members of his coven wouldn’t allow their kids to come to the party.
“Okay, here’s how we are going to do it. I placed everyone’s name in this jar.” Like a game show presenter, he picked up the jar with the neatly folded papers with the names on them to show his guests. “You will pick a name and hand that person the gift you bought with you tonight, and I hope that everyone stuck to the dollar amount.” He narrowed his eyes at the adults who shifted a bit. Most of them were very wealthy in their own right and tended to go too far. The twins were spoiled rotten thanks to all their newfound uncles and grandparents.
“So, have a question,” Parker said to him.
“What if I don’t like the gift I get?”
“At the end, we can do a gift exchange, but I’m not worried from what I can tell everyone has great taste.”
“Dad, did you put our names in there too?” Benjamin asked. Jordan smiled. In the months since he’d met the twins they’d blossomed so much. Benjamin had become more outspoken and no longer relied on Maddison to speak for him. Maddison started doing things on her own with her friends leaving her brother to do the same.
“Yes, sweetheart,” Jordan answered.
“Wait, so one of us might end up with a doll or something?” Charlie asked.
Jordan didn’t answer he simply smirked letting his question hang in the air as he picked up another jar that held the names of all the kids. He placed it in front of Maddison who picked it up. “Kids, you pick from the jar in Maddie’s hand, and adults will pick from me. Now let’s see who will go first.”
“I want to go first,” Benjamin said leaning over taking a name from the jar. He unfolded the paper and smiled shyly when he read the name.
He got up and walked over to the tree picking up the box he had asked Jordan to help him wrap. He slowly walked over to Tameo, one of the nyixan kids who’d joined his parents. Tameo was one year older than Benjamin but Jordan noticed that his adopted son followed the little boy around whenever he’d been around. The two other boys that liked to tag along with Benjamin, Maddison, and Tameo were Jiro and Hiroki, who were just as fascinated by Benjamin and Maddison as the twins were with them.
“I hope you like it.” He handed the gift to Tameo and practically ran back to where he was sitting beside his sister.
Jordan looked at his mate and noticed his brows furrowed and heard the low growl building. He reached over and gently touched Duncan on his shoulder, whispering in his ear, “They are just friends nothing to worry about.”
Duncan slowly turned and looked at him. “What are you talking about?”
“Benjamin and Tameo, they are just kids. Nothing is going to happen yet.” Jordan had a suspicion that Tameo would always be Benjamin’s friend but that someone else would one day steal his son’s heart.
“Do you think we should do the whole sex talk?”
Jordan would have chuckled, but the scared expression on Duncan’s face had him hiding his smirk. “No, I think we can wait a couple of years for that discussion. They are both not ready for any of that.” Duncan visibly sighed with relief, and we turned back in time to see Tameo open his gift. He cheered when he saw that it was the latest new game that he and Benjamin were always talking about.
“Wow, Ben, this is awesome, I love it, thank you.” He got up and walked over to his friend hugging him. “Want to go play it, now?” His excitement made Jordan smile. Benjamin looked over at him and Duncan with pleading eyes.
“Tameo, don’t you want to pick a name out of the jar?” He asked before answering his son.
“Can we do it later, please?” the kid begged.
“But what about the girls and the other kids?” Jordan would have snickered because of the expression on the boys face at the mention of girls, but kept his face expressionless.
“Fine,” Benjamin groused and sat back down. “Come on, Tameo, let’s wait for everyone else to open their gifts.”
Well, don’t sound so happy about it.
“Okay, sweet pea, your turn.” He pointed at the jar in front of Maddison and waited for her to pick a name. She was about to reach in and take out a slip of paper but stopped. “What’s wrong, Maddison?”
“Nothing, Dad, but can my friends and I pick our names at the same time?”
“Sure, why not,” Jordan agreed. It was a great idea, and it would make the time go by faster. All the kids, except Ben, dived for the jar and picked a name. For a few seconds there was a flurry of kids running from the tree and over to their friends handing out the gifts they had bought.
“Tell me you planned that part.” Duncan whispered in his ear.
For a second Jordan couldn’t think, his mate’s deep voice always seemed to surprise him and turn him on at the same time. He looked away from the kids and to his mate who was staring at him with that look in his eyes. The one that said, “How soon can we send these people home so that I can fuck you into the mattress.” Jordan licked his lips and cleared his throat.
“Um…” He’d forgotten the question.
“Something wrong, baby?” He raised an eyebrow and Jordan realized he was doing it on purpose.
“Would you two stop it, there are kids in the room,” Bronx said from across the room.
“Why? Are you jealous?” Jordan asked without looking away from Duncan. For his best friend’s comeback, he received a grunt.
“How much longer do we have to place nice with the others before I can have you to myself?” Duncan asked as he leaned in for a kiss, but Jordan stopped him.
“Stop, you promised to play nice tonight. You don’t want your name added to the Naughty List, do you?”
“Haven’t you heard?” Duncan asked. “Santa thinks I’m a very good boy. I think you can attest to that.” He smiled devilishly. “If you’ve forgotten, I’m happy to remind you just how good I am tonight.”
Jordan was starting to regret having a party. Loud screams and babbling pulled him away from his mate. “We’ll finish this later.”
“We sure will,” Duncan said close to his ear making him shiver.
“What did you guys get?” Jordan asked focusing, once again, on the kids.
They were all talking at the same time and seemed happy with their gifts. Only one exchange happened! Tameo had brought the same game that Benjamin had bought, but because he’d picked one of Maddison’s friends who didn’t like to play video games, she exchanged it with Jiro, who’d gotten a doll.
“Can we go now, Dad?” Benjamin asked.
He could tell that they were about to jump out of their skins and weren’t going to sit still for another second. He nodded, releasing them to have their fun which was the point of the night.
“Can we go too, Prince Jordan?” Jiro asked with his large round sparkling purple eyes, silver and jet-black ombre hair and pale skin. He was four years old and the cutest thing Jordan had ever seen.
“Please, we promise to play nice with each other,” he pleaded again.
No matter how many times he’d instructed everyone to call him Jordan, they insisted on adding the Prince in front of his name, anyway. Bronx found it hilarious to Jordan’s irritation.
“Sure, little one.” With a hurried thank you, the rest of the boys ran out of the room. Truthfully, Jordan found Jiro to be too adorable and had a feeling he wasn’t going to be able to say no to the kid for the rest of his life. He was about to tell Maddison that her and her friends could go to her room , but they dashed out of the room behind Jiro and the others.
“Well, that went well,” Jordan mumbled, and the adults chuckled. “Now that the kids are gone, let’s get to the adult gifts.”
“Why do I feel like I’m going to regret this?” Bronx asked, and the rest of the room murmured in agreement.
“Come on, Bronx, don’t be like that. Remember when we were kids, you used to love Christmas.”
“No, Lil’ Bit, that was you.”
“No, it wasn’t, I specifically remember . . .”
“Let’s not go down memory lane, please,” Kallen interrupted.
Man is he ever going to get into the groove of things.
“You’re right, Kallen. Come on, everyone, let’s pick names.” He picked up the jar and passed it to the first person next to him.
He watched as the jar went around to everyone and was happy when Aoi was the last person. Jordan had noticed when his uncle arrived, he’d brought two gifts with him and wanted to pay extra attention to which gift he gave to the name he’d picked. Everyone looked at the name on their paper and started handing out presents. He watched his uncle hand Charlie a gift who smiled appreciatively then walked away. He was waiting to see who his uncle was going to go next and was surprised when Bronx walked over to him and handed him a wrapped box.
“What’s this for?” he asked.
“A gift. What does it look like?”
“Yeah, but I’m not the one you need to give this to.” He looked over Bronx’s shoulder to Kallen who was talking with Parker, but Jordan knew the man was watching them. He couldn’t figure out if the man was jealous or simply waiting for the right time to kill him. “You should give this to your mate.”
Bronx closed his eyes and sighed. “We’re friends, Jordy. We’ve been friends all our lives and nothing is going to change that. Besides, I drew your name out of the blasted jar so take the gift. And not to worry, I’ve already taken care of my mate.”
Reluctantly Jordan took the gift and set it aside. “Okay fine, I’ll open it later.” Bronx stepped to the side just as Aoi walked out the door. “Dammit, I missed it.” He turned and looked at Duncan. “Did you see if he gave the second gift to someone?”
He turned and glared at his best friend. “Thanks a lot, Bronx.” Then ran to the window to see if anyone left with him ignoring Bronx’s questioning glare.
“Okay, what the hell is going on?” Bronx asked, walking over to Duncan.
“You thought this was about you guys, didn’t you?”
“Well, yeah, it’s Christmas, and I know how much he loves this time of year.”
Duncan smiled at his friend. “This was a ploy.”
“To find out who Aoi is interested in.”
“Huh, that’s pretty interesting,” Bronx said looking around the room, taking note of the people in the room. He shook his head and snorted.
“I can see why you two are best friends. You’re just as nosey.”
“It’s a manner of interest, my friend. I’ve come to like the older and wiser man. Hell, you’ve seen what he can do with a sword,” Bronx defended.
“Right,” Duncan drawled. He handed a drink to Bronx who took it.
“How’s it going with your mate?” Bronx sighed in the way of answering him. “That bad, huh?”
“I’m wondering if the gods were sure with this one. He hates me.”
“I don’t think he hates you, he’s jealous maybe. He thinks you still have feelings for Jordan.”
“But I don’t, what I feel for Jordan is a familial love. Before you guys were mated, maybe I wished he was my mate, but seeing you two guys together—we were never liked that. He smiles more, and I can see how much you two love each other. Hell, the only thing I’m jealous about is the way you two look at each other. I want that. I want Kallen to look at me like I’m his world. But there is way too much history between hunters and our kind.”
“So, what are you going to do about it?”
Bronx sighed. “I hope that with what I have planned for Christmas, Kallen will see that I want and care about him.”
“Want to share? Maybe I can give you pointers.”
“And here I thought Jordan and I were the only ones interested in other people’s affairs.”
“You thought wrong,” Duncan said with a smile.
Bronx chuckled. “Thanks, but I don’t want to talk about it here, but let’s just say I went all out.”
Duncan rested a hand on his shoulder. “Then, my friend, I wish you luck.”
“Thanks, I’m going to need it.”
They talked for a few minutes before mingling with the rest of the room. After a while, everyone was laughing and getting along. Jordan’s plan seemed to be working. At least one part of it, since these were the people that were going to be counting on each other in the future. Duncan only wished his friends, Ryland who was his beta and the pack doctor, Blayze, were there with them. Maybe once things were settled, they would be next year.
Jordon waved goodbye to their last guest and closed the door, then he turned and smiled, leaning his back against it. The night might not have gone exactly the way he wanted, but things worked out great. He still had no idea who Aoi might be interested in, but he might have an idea of who it could be.
“What are you thinking about?”
He smiled when his mate stepped in front of him. Without hesitating, he wrapped his arms around Duncan’s neck, lifting to his toes he pressed their lips together. His lover rested his hands on Jordan’s hips and pulled them closer, Duncan’s low growl sent shivers down his spine. Jordan pulled back and hummed as his mate peppered kisses down his chin and then his neck, sucking on it. Jordan moaned as he was pushed against the door.
“What are you doing, Duncan?”
“I’m collecting on my early Christmas present,” he said nipping at Jordan’s earlobe.
“Is that so?”
“Oh, yes,” he drawled grinding his hard cock against Jordan’s causing him to moan.
“I’m not sure you’ve been a good boy, Duncan Pryde.”
“Oh, I’ve been a good boy, a very good boy.” He stepped back, lifted Jordan into his arms who squealed with delight. “In fact, how about I show you.”
“Then show me.”
He buried his face between Duncan’s neck and shoulder, sucking up a mark next to his mating bite before moving to his chin and then his lips. He didn’t break their kiss when he was laid on the bed. Duncan fell on top of him, mindful of his stomach. Jordan wrapped his legs around his lover, deepening their kiss. He jerked his hips up seeking friction and moaned in delight when Duncan’s hard cock rubbed against his.
As Duncan slowly pulled away from his lips, Jordan opened his eyes and gazed into Duncan’s and reached up, tracing a finger across Duncan’s lips and smiling.
“I was thinking that this is our first Christmas together, as a family.”
“Who would have thought the day I came here looking for a job, I would have Duncan Pryde in my arms right now?”
“Are you disappointed?”
“Far from it, you’re my dream come true.”
Jordan pulled Duncan down for another kiss before he could say anything else. Their kiss was filled with passion and love and became a frenzy of need and want. It hurt Jordan to be apart from Duncan even for a minute. He pulled at his mate’s shirt trying to take it off. His lover’s purrs reached his ears. Separating from their kiss and climbing off him, Duncan stood on the side of the bed and started undressing. Jordan kneeled on the bed and admired his lover’s torso.
“Are you going to watch more get naked?”
“I love watching you strip for me.”
Duncan smiled and grabbed him by the back of his neck quickly kissing him.
“Strip now.” The growl in his voice made Jordan gasp.
Gods, he is sexy and all mine.
He nodded, crawled off the bed and did as he was told. Jordan watched as a naked Duncan got back into bed and laid on his back, grabbing his hard cock in his hand jerking it a few times. Pre-cum seeped from the head, and Jordan licked his lips, he wanted to taste his mate before he felt his knot spreading him. His ass was already lubed thanks to his mating lubricant, all he needed was his mate to love him.
Jordan crawled on the bed and straddled Duncan’s legs. The heads of their cocks brushed together, and they both hissed at the contact. “Duncan, I need you now.”
He released his cock and rested both hands on Jordan’s hips one of his hands snaked around cupping one of his butt cheeks parting it. He dragged a finger across his hole making him shiver. And his skin flushed with heat as arousal build inside of him. Duncan inserted a finger slowly inside of Jordan who fell forward bracing his palms on his lover’s chest. As their leaking cocks brushed together, he moved his hips fucking himself on Duncan’s finger adding more friction to their hard dicks.
Jordan’s groans turned into more needy growls as Duncan added another finger. He couldn’t take it anymore, Jordan wanted his mate inside him.
“Duncan, I can’t wait, please, love me now.”
Duncan removed his fingers, and flipped Jordan over onto his back. Before he could protest, the head of his lover’s cock was being pressed inside of him. Jordan stilled and his eyes connected with Duncan’s. The love that was shining back at him always surprised him, even though it shouldn’t. They are destined mates, made for each other and would have found their way to each other, but there was no guarantee that there would be love between them.
Duncan pushed further bottoming inside of him pulling a groan from him. His lover stilled for a few seconds before he started moving slowly, their lovemaking always made Jordan feel connected to his mate in every way, weaving the threads of their lives together forever. Duncan was always gentle whenever they made love, but he was even more careful now that Jordan was pregnant. Duncan shifted his hips, deepening his strokes pulling sweet moans from him. He met his lover thrust for thrust and each time Duncan’s cock brushed against his prostate, it brought him closer and closer to the edge. Jordan knew they were both not going to last long and was not surprised when they orgasmed together the second Duncan sunk his canines deep into his flesh drinking his blood. He felt his mate’s knot expanding him just as Duncan removed his canines and tilted his head, showing his neck for Jordan to further their mating.
His canines elongated as he leaned forward sinking his teeth into his mating mark. Duncan’s hips jerked forward, and his knot rubbed against his prostate. Jordan grunted and sank his teeth deeper into his mate who groaned long and hard. He removed his canines, licking the mark closed. Their lips found each other once again and they continued to make love, further cementing their bond.
Two mornings later, Jordan lay comfortably in his bed watching the time pass. He’d woken up an hour early in anticipation of the kids bursting in to wake him and Duncan up. He was disappointed that they didn’t seem to be excited about the prospect of Santa Claus leaving them presents. They’d gone to bed without so much of their usual fuss surprising Duncan and Jordan.
Maybe they are trying to stay on Santa’s good boys and girls list, and I’m overthinking things. If I’m not human then maybe Santa Claus is real. Nah, that’s just wishful thinking on my part.
Jordan had always loved Christmas; it was his favorite holiday. The entire season brought him joy. It wasn’t about the presents but the fact that this time of year seemed to bring out the best in people.
“If you want to wake them up why don’t you just go ahead and do it?”
“How long have you been awake?” He rolled over facing Duncan.
“Since you got back from the bathroom.”
He smiled and touched his stomach. “This little one is just as excited about today as I am.”
Duncan chuckled and kissed him. “I think that’s all you and nothing to do with the baby.”
“Do you think they are sad because this is their first Christmas without Mari and Ben?”
“Maybe,” Duncan said pulling him into his arms and kissing him on the crown of his head.
“I just want it to be special for them.”
“I know.” He sighed. “Tell you what, let’s go wake them up instead.”
“Really?” Jordan couldn’t hide his excitement and sat up looking at his mate.
Duncan chuckled. “Yeah, come on.”
Throwing the blankets off before Duncan could finish his statement, Jordan grabbed his robe and hurriedly pulled it on as he ran out of the room. He ran to Benjamin’s room first since it was the closest and was not surprised when he found it empty. But when he went to Maddison’s room, he was shocked when it was empty as well. Fear coursed through him, afraid that sometime during the night they were taken without him or Duncan realizing what happened.
For just a short moment, he’d forgotten about the trouble with his grandfather. The man would stop at nothing to get to him and using his kids was one way to do it. He was about to run back to his bedroom when he heard giggles coming from downstairs. Quietly he walked down the stairs and crept along the wall, peeking around the corner.
A smile graced his lips when he saw his babies sitting in front of the lit Christmas tree with tons of wrapping paper surrounding them, along with all the gifts that he and Duncan bought them. He and the kids had sat down last month and wrote their letters to Santa with a list a mile long. Jordan had pretended to mail them a couple of days later.
“I guess they didn’t want to wake us up,” Duncan whispered in his ear, wrapping a hand around his waist.
“Yeah,” he said with a smile.
Maddison raised her head and sniffed and turned to their direction and smiled. “Papa, Dad!”
She got up, trudged her way through the mounds of wrapping paper and ran over to them as they stepped out of their hiding spot that really wasn’t one. He went to one knee as both kids ran into his arms hugging them.
“Merry Christmas, you two.” He pulled back and smiled up at them. “I was waiting for you two to come and wake us up.”
“We wanted to, but we were too excited to see what Santa brought us,” Benjamin said.
“We can see that,” Duncan told him.
“Well, are you two happy with what you got?” Jordan asked. He was happy that the twins still believed in Santa Claus.
“Yeah, we are,” Maddison said.
“Yeah, but . . . Santa got us almost everything on our list,” Benjamin added.
“That was really generous of him! Was there something you were hoping for the most?” Jordan asked as he stood up and took their hands, and walked over to the couch to sit down.
“He didn’t bring the puppy we asked for,” they said together.
Duncan and Jordan looked at each other and smirked.
“Are you sure?” Jordan asked.
“Yup, we looked everywhere,” Benjamin said.
“In Papa’s office, the garage, everywhere.” Maddison opened her arms wide as an example.
Jordan combed his fingers through her messy hair and smiled. In the short time since he’d entered their lives, they’d grown so much, and he was happy to be there for it. He was sorry they’d lost their parents at such a young age, but he wouldn’t trade being in their lives for anything. He’d bonded with them and they him. They were his children although he didn’t give birth to them. He smiled broader knowing that this time next year there would be an addition to their little family. Getting pregnant was a surprise to him and Duncan, he had no idea that he could get pregnant in the first place.
“You know what? Last night, Papa and I heard a strange noise coming from my old bedroom and when we went to check we didn’t see anything. But after we closed the door, the noise came back. But I wonder…” he said tapping his chin letting the words hang in the air. They gasped and bounded off the couch, running upstairs talking excitedly. Duncan kissed him on the side of his neck, and he hummed in content. “I was worried for nothing, wasn’t I?”
“No, you had a right to worry. I know they still miss their Mari and Ben, but they now recognize us as the parents in their lives.”
“I love you.” He rested a hand on his small baby bump. “We love you.” He looked over his shoulder at his mate and his forever love.
“I love you too.” Duncan placed a hand on top of Jordan’s. “And I love this little one as well. I can’t wait to meet him or her.”
They’d opted out of finding out the sex of the baby, wanting it to be a surprise.
“Thank you,” Duncan whispered.
“For what?” he asked confused.
“For applying for the job as my assistant. I think I needed you, more than I realized.”
“Thanks for not accepting my resignation.”
“I had no intention of letting you leave after that kiss, even if we weren’t mates. I wanted you and I wasn’t going to let you go.”
“And I hope you never do.” An excited scream accompanied by tiny barking reached their ears making them smile. Each child had gotten a puppy for Christmas. They’d hid the pups in his old bedroom around mounds of pillows hoping to muffle the noise of their barking.
“Let me go help them. You sit right there and don’t open any of the gifts I bought you until I get back. Especially the small one wrapped in green hiding behind the tree.”
Jordan nodded, and as soon as Duncan was out of the room, he jumped up and ran over to the tree to find the wrapped box. Tearing the wrapper off like an excited child, he gasped when he saw the black velvet box. He stared at it for a second before opening it, nestled inside were two gold bands between plush pillows and a note in the cover that simply said, “Take my last name.” He stared at it in shock. Duncan was asking him to marry him in the human way.
Everyone knew that he and Duncan were together. But some were humans who had no idea about the supernatural world. The employees of Pryde Enterprise were very surprised when Duncan announced that he and Jordan were together. No one suspected that Duncan was gay, not even Duncan himself until he realized that Jordan was his mate. Some were happy for them and others, namely those of the female persuasion who had their eyes set on Duncan for themselves, were a bit more standoffish. Jordan was now part owner of Pryde Enterprise and worked part-time at the company when the kids were in school. It was the agreement that he and Duncan came up with.
He looked up at his lover and mate as tears clouded his vision. Duncan kneeled beside him and took the box out of his hand. Lifting the rings from the box and looking at Jordan, he took Jordan’s hand in his.
“I know that we are mated as the fates have designed and that means you are mine. We’ve adopted the twins, and you think of them as yours, and I love that. But I want you to have everything I do, and that includes my last name. Jordan Sutton, will you marry me?”
He slipped the ring fully on his finger. “Yes,” he said while wrapping his arms around Duncan’s neck and kissing him as if his life depended on it. He leaned back and dashed the tears away from his face. “Gods, I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”
He pulled back and took the other ring from Duncan and slipped it on his ring finger. He looked up and smiled at his mate. The kids and their new pups ran over and sat beside them. Jordan was happy, completely over the moon and he couldn’t keep the smile off his face. His family was growing, and he couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. This was their first Christmas together and no matter what his grandfather might bring their way, it definitely wouldn’t be their last.
The End- For Now! :)
